FRONT PAGE AGAIN!!!

We had our fourth front-page write up in the newspaper! With a color photo! (LOL)
RUSS OLIVIO, (journalist for The Rhode Island newspaper, "THE CALL") gave me, (Amy Wade) another interview last week after seeing our kickstarter page. I was totally surprised and VERY EXCITED to talk with him about the progress of our film. This was my second interview with Russ. He wrote a fantastic article, promoting our kickstarter page and drawing interest to CONDO HELL.
The article was published on January 10, in Rhode Island's "THE CALL" newspaper.
HEADLINE: "CONDO HELL CREATOR GOES CROWD SEARCHING"

THANK YOU SO MUCH, RUSS OLIVIO

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

Right now we are in the process of picking a composer for the film. This is one of the fun parts of post-production. I am learning more and more every day about the film-making process. It is fascinating. I never realized how many steps are involved to score a movie. The composers have to come up with original music. I send them clips of footage, and they use their creativity and talent to layer music over the footage. Then they send the clips back to me. I review them to see if their vision compliments my own. We have several very talented composers working on the scenes right now. This is going to be a difficult decision. THERE IS SO MUCH TALENT OUT THERE! I'm so excited to review their work- like I said, this is the fun part of making movies. Horror movie music is AWESOME. Without the music, the film would be boring... great composers know how to bring a film to a higher level of suspense and excitement! After we decide on the composer, he will start creating original pieces to suit the scenes. Beyond that, I'm not sure yet. There are several more steps involved in the scoring process. As I learn, I will fill you in.

THANK YOU AGAIN, EVERYONE, FOR BELIEVING IN US.

I FEEL LIKE I ATE A YORK PEPPERMINT PATTY

The smooth, cool sensation of a YORK PEPPERMINT PATTY is what it feels like to be so close to our goal.

Wait- scratch that. I'm not a big Peppermint Patty fan. I'd rather have a bag of M-n-M's or a Reese's Peanut Butter cup, but you get my point.

Our latest backers ROCK OUR WORLD!

BIG THANK YOU'S TO:
BRIAN LABELLA, CHRIS KENNEDY, PETER & TRICIA HAROOTIAN, MARY REAVEY, MICHAELA O'HARA, WARREN SHENG, PATRICIA ISAS, CONSTANZA ISAS, and ANNE CONEENEY.

I personally, THANK YOU ALL for your generosity and thoughtfulness and optimism and enthusiasm.

AND YET ANOTHER THANK YOU, TO OUR BIGGEST PROMOTER AND TALENTED WRITER RUSS OLIVIO. YOU ARE AMAZING RUSS.

ALL of you are amazing. "THANK YOU" just doesn't seem to cut it.

UPDATE #8  - Jan 30 2014
WE DID IT! (YOU DID IT!)

WARNING: THIS IS A LONG POST. I CONTEMPLATED PUBLISHING IT FOR A LONG TIME. THEN I DECIDED, THE HELL WITH IT. I WANTED TO GIVE YOU SOME INSIGHT TO MY PURSUIT OF ACTING, AND HOW SPECIAL THIS EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN FOR ME. IT MAY BE BORING, BUT IT'S ME. (Did I just call myself "boring?")
END WARNING.

We reached our goal! Our project is funded! We can finish the movie!

WOOHOO!

Special thank you's to our last ten backers!
NEAL MEYERS, GREGG WALTERS, VANESSA SEALEY, ALEX COLMENARES, LINDA DOHERTY, ERIC & BING ALITALO, DOTTIE & GEORGE ELANJIAN, GUS & DONNA PAPPAS, and DONNA & HAIG DERANIAN...

What can we say other than, "Thank you so much?!"

Well, for starters, all of you have helped me and the cast and crew of CONDO HELL make our dreams come true. I hope this isn't boring for you to read, but I want to explain the impact your support and generosity has made in our lives.

I pursued acting for almost twenty years in Los Angeles. I pounded the pavement and got rejected time and time again, year after year. Sure, I booked some jobs ocassionally, but they never paid well, (if at all) and they weren't challenging or exciting like I always dreamed of. I never achieved my goal of becoming a “working” actress. Fast forward to 2009, the year I came home to work with my pop at the mill. I had to turn off the “acting bug” and accept that if it was meant to be, I would end up pursuing acting again when the time was right. I wanted to focus on my family, and catch up after 20 years of missing them. The last four years have been the best years of my life. My sister Pattiann and her husband came home, too. She gave birth to Clayton and Armen, who have brought insurmountable joy to our lives. My brother and his family live nearby and we all get together as often as we can. My family is my life. (What is this, an essay?!)  BLAH BLAH BLAH... Please forgive me, you don't have to keep reading. I'll try to avoid Amy-Babble.

The acting bug never truly goes away. I knew I wanted to make a movie at the mill the day I stepped foot in it, but I didn't tell anyone except Gia, my best friend and co-creater of CONDO HELL. Four years went by. Then one day Gia and I were sitting in her backyard, and we knew the time had come. We were going to make CONDO HELL. I already knew who I would cast; my dearest friends from Playhouse West, the acting school where we all met. Some of them had moved on, like I did. But like I said, the “bug” never goes away. When I contacted Wayne and Patty and Daniella, they came on board without hesitation. Stephanie and Mahta are currently training at Playhouse; they followed suit shortly thereafter. For me, Gia, Wayne, Patty and Daniella, it was a dream coming alive. Not only were we going to work together again, but we all had LEAD ROLES!! We rehearsed for months on-line, “Skyping” late at night. By the time they arrived at the mill, we were ready to make a KICK-ASS horror movie. We worked all day and night, taking breaks to eat and catch a few hours of sleep on air-mattresses on the floor in my condo. Despite the stress and exhaustion, my friends gave OUTSTANDING performances. I can't wait for you to see their talents come alive on the big screen. The whole experience was surreal. I don't think any of us ever imagined we would be working together again, let alonestarring in a horror movie.

Simply put- it was AWESOME.

As you know, we are now in post-production. Gia and I exhausted all of our finances. Basically, we put everything we had into this film. We ran out of money. Making a movie is great, but SEEING IT is even better! We wouldn't be able to finish it without your support and contributions.

To get back to my original point, (on page 200, chapter 8 of Volume III, titled, “Amy Babble”) all of you have helped us make this dream come true. We are humbled and honored by your generosity.

THANK YOU AGAIN. Sincerely, Amy Wade

UPDATE #10  - Feb 9 2014
WOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 (LONG, DEEP BREATH...)

.......................................... (speechless)

(Not really, I have AmyBabble Syndrome.
We are truly TRULY blessed to have all of your support and to receive your generous donations.

COLLEEN DOLAN-MURPHY, JUSTIN HOROWITZ, and KAY & JIM NAUGHTON were our last AWESOME and GENEROUS contributors to CONDO HELL.

Thank you thank you thank you, for thinking of us, and for wanting us to succeed in this endeavor. We would not be able to finish this movie without you.

I flew out to LA last week to meet with our composer who will be doing the score. (the soundtrack) It was exciting for me, and also very challenging because I don't know what the hell I'm doing. (LOL) So much of this film has been a HUGE learning experience for me. Gia is my ROCK. Without her, there is no way I could make this dream come true. Not only is she my best friend, but she is my partner and my confidant, and my therapist. (LOL) She knows me so well; I would've had a nervous breakdown by now if she wasn't there for me.

Where was I? (UGH. BABBLE BABBLE BABBLE. I'm annoying myself.) The composer! Okay, so his name is Joe Carrillo. He is very talented and dedicated and he is excited to work with us. Basically, I researched a million horror films to get an idea of what I want the score to sound like for CONDO HELL. Every step of this process is so much harder than I anticipated! I had flashbacks listening to JAWS, FRIDAY THE 13TH, HALLOWEEN, THE SHINING, etc etc. After I had an idea of what I wanted, Gia and  I sat down with Joe for hours, discussing the footage and where to insert the score. Joe will be writing the music, then he will use all of his musical instruments and technology to blend the pieces together for each scene. It's fascinating. After he composes a few clips, he will send them to me via email, and I will review them to see if he's on the right track. I know he will bring the movie to life. I know he will give me what I want. I have faith in his talents and abilities.

Simultaneously, Doug will be sound-editing, Kurt will be doing color correction, and Gia and I will begin the process of film-festival researching. When Doug is finished with the sound-editing, he will then add the special effects- choking noises, gurgling, punches, footsteps, doors slamming, etc etc. (I don't want to give too much away!)

And finally, I am VERY EXCITED about a musician who has joined the CONDO HELL Team of Talents! Many of you know him, but if you don't, his name is MARK LATHAM, a fellow Reading High School graduate. (We went to his sophomore prom together! LOL) Mark has been playing music and writing/performing his own songs for many many years in LA. I used to see his shows when I lived out there. He is AMAZING on stage- he knows how to work the crowd and his presence is mesmerizing. We're going to use several of his songs in the movie. I still have to talk with him about it, but I was so excited I wanted to include the news in this post. (Forgive me Mark! I'll be calling you this week!) Anyway, I am grateful and THRILLED to have him on board with us.

Okay everyone, I'm signing off to hit the sack. I'm a little jet-lagged from the trip. I want to say THANK YOU again, although it doesn't seem sufficient in expressing my true gratitude.

WE LOVE YOU EVERYONE,
The Cast & Crew of CONDO HELL
and especially Amy Wade & Gia Franzia

UPDATE #11 - Mar 26 2014
OBSTACLES TO OVERCOME...

Hello everyone,

I wanted to post an update about CONDO HELL. You have all been so generous and supportive, I didn't want you to think we took your money and ran. (LOL)

We are facing another obstacle which will delay the completion of the film. Due to very unfortunate circumstances, our amazing composer will not be able to work on this film. Please say some prayers for his mother, who is very sick. We are searching for another composer right now. Our special effects and sound editor is still working his magic, as well as our color corrector. In the meantime, we have several horror websites who will be interviewing me for promotional articles. Film-making is such a complicated process. Athough patience is a virtue, it is much easier said than done!!!

I hope all of you are healthy, and living life to the fullest.

Please don't forget to say prayers for Joe and his mom.
Thank you!
Sincerely, Amy Wade

UPDATE #12 - Jul 19 2014
CONDO HELL OBSTACLE #9,587

Dear friends and family,

I apologize for taking so long to update you on the progress of CONDO HELL. We are facing another setback... a BIG ONE... and it knocked me off of my feet. I got back up again, (although it took me a while) and we are working on fixing the problem.

If you are interested, I'd like to tell you what happened. The steps involved in post production are tedious and take much longer than shooting the movie. We were in the last phase of the process, working on the sound editing, effects, and composing, when we realized the film wasn't long enough to be considered a feature length film. This is something I should have known. When we were almost ready to start submitting to festivals, the film didn't fit into any of the catergories. It was too short to be considered a feature film, and too long to be considered a short film. (Short films must be under 40 minutes, feature films must be over 75 minutes.) CONDO HELL was at 60 minutes.

When I wrote the script, it was a feature length. Unfortunately, due to the five days we had to shoot the entire movie, scenes had to get cut, hence, the problem. We added more footage a few months later, and also re-shot a few of the scenes I didn't like, but it wasn't enough. The most depressing part of this obstacle is the fact that we already paid for the sound editing and composition for the movie. Basically, the film is completed, but it's only 60 minutes long.

I had a huge decision to make. I could stick with what we have and show my friends and family in a small theatre or someone's home with a large screen TV, or dive back into the ocean, against the waves, and hope to come up for air at some point with a feature length film.

I used to be lifeguard during the summers of my youth, so I chose to dive back into the ocean. The sucky part is that I'm more afraid of the ocean now than I was in my younger years. (LOL) As we speak, I am still underwater. There are sharks everywhere. It's cold and dark, and the current is dragging me in all different directions. I'm trying to befriend the sharks, but honestly, they're all bitchy and moody, and they only want to eat me. I'm a tough cookie, though, and I can see light above me, which means I could reach the surface of the water hopefully sooner than later.

My parents are the most unbelievable people on the planet. They are helping me financially, (and emotionally) and I wouldn't be able to continue without them. Throughout my entire life, I wouldn't have achieved much of anything had it not been for the support of my parents. This is not a self-pity statement. This is a fact. My mom and pop are my heroes.

To get back to my point, with their help and support, CONDO HELL will come to fruition. It's just going to take longer than planned. At the end of August, four of the actresses, and one of their significant others- (THANK YOU ALEX) will be flying back to the mill to shoot additional scenes to make the film 75 minutes. I am SO GRATEFUL for their time and committment. Our second cinematographer, and AD will be joining us again, and we plan to KICK ASS for another shoot. My pop has two more scenes in the film, so of course he is excited. The girls are going to be fantastic, and it's going to make the film even better than it already is.

After this shoot, we will have to re-hire all of the post production crew to add the additional footage to the 60 minute version. I am selling all of my belongings on Craig's List to pay for it. Is anyone interested in a pink couch or a dining room table or a queen-sized bed? I'll sell them for a few hundred bucks! I'm kidding- I love my pink couch! (Mary Reavey's sister gave it to me!) LOL
Seriously though, I am selling whatever I can on Craig's List to pay for the additional expenses. I have a beautiful Seth Thomas chiming wall clock if anyone is interested. (LOL!)

Okay, enough of my ramblings. I was overdue to send you an update. Thank you again, for all of your donations and support. CONDO HELL will get done if it kills me. But like I said on Facebook, that would be stupid, because then I wouldn't get to see it.
DOH!

Love to all of you, hope you are enjoying the summer!
Love,
Amy Wade

UPDATE #13 - Nov 18 2014
ALMOST THERE!

Hello to our wonderful and extremely patient supporters!

Wow. It's been a while. I've been meaning to post an update for ages. Please forgive me. The obstacles and challenges we've faced far exceeded anything I ever imagined. Seriously. This is HARD. (LOL)

In a nutshell, I got screwed. It took me a while to get over it. (I take things very personally.) It also wiped me out financially. I've been selling stuff on CRAIG'S LIST again, to pay for more sound editing and post production. Many of the residents at HIGH ROCKS are donating things for me to sell, which is really cool and generous and makes my heart smile.

The "getting screwed" part delayed the production substantially. I admit, I got depressed about it. (Hence, my absence and lack of updates.)

But CONDO HELL is back in the game!

We just need a little more time...

Thank you for your patience, and understanding, and continued support.
Much love,
Amy Wade, Creator of CONDO HELL

UPDATE #14 - Feb 8 2015
UGH.

Hello everyone,
We're still plugging away in post-production... HUGE setbacks. HUGE. I just wanted to update you again because I'm still determined to finish this movie. Despite the setbacks, the footage is fantastic. The actors are so patient. It's been over two years since the beginning of this project. Time flies, but impatience grows stronger. LOL

My partners are devoting themselves to help finish post-production. Kurt Phillips is the unsung hero. He has devoted hours and hours and hours of his time. The film could not be made without him. On top of his generosity and selflessness, he is talented beyond words. His editing is amazing. I can't thank him enough. But I'll sure try.

I continue to learn the depths of film-making, which is truly extraordinary. I never fathomed the tremendous amount of post-production necessary to make a movie. The steps involved are intricate and challenging. The only way to make a film worthy is to find talented people who know what they're doing. I've learned this the hard way. I've made big mistakes and trusted the wrong people. I've been overwhelmed, discouraged, and depressed with the obstacles we've had to overcome. I have wanted to throw in the towel more times than I can count. Thank GOD for my parents. They raised me to persevere and never give up. They are my HEROS.

We WILL finish this film. And it WILL be as great as I imagined, only because of the awesome people who are involved. Not only are they talented and selfless, but they are also my best friends in the world. I remind myself of how fortunate I am in this regard. How many people get to make a movie with their best friends? LOL

With all of that said, thank you, always for your patience and support. I hope my next update is to announce the completion of CONDO HELL.

I hope you are all having a healthy and joyous New Year, full of love and laughter and great times with family and friends.
Love,
Amy Wade

UPDATE #15 - Jul 6 2015
Well...

I've held off this long to post an update because I really wanted to say the film is done. It's not.
This August will mark the fourth year in the making of this movie.
(LOOOONG PAUSE)
(Sigh)

I don't want to be a "Debbie Downer" but this is RIDICULOUS. May I vent for a moment?

AAAAAARRRRGGHHH!

Thank you. I feel better.
(No I don't, but I'm trying to add some humor to an otherwise depressing update.)

Well folks, we're close. (Haven't I said that a million times?) I feel like the Little Boy Who Cried Wolf.
As far as I know, the final chunk of footage will be delivered to our FOURTH sound editor by the end of next week. Then it could take 3-4 more weeks for the sound editing to be completed, then sent to me for the final approval. I'm hoping I won't have to re-do all of the work I've done making notes for the FIFTH time. (Hmmm... do I sense a little bitterness? YIKES!)

I think I'm just tired of re-doing the same work over and over and over again. Aaahhh... but people will tell me, "patience is a virtue" and "perseverance pays off" and "the greater the obstacles the more glory..." (Moliere) etc etc etc

Yes, I know all of that. So I'm still persevering. My life is consumed with this movie. It will come to fruition. And it will be good. (Damn. I hope so.)

With that said, please forgive me. I promise you, I won't give up.

I sincerely hope all of you are HEALTHY (most important) and enjoying the summer and being with family and friends and laughing and playing and eating good food. I hope everyone feels happy in their hearts and minds...

I appreciate you.
Sincerely,
Amy Wade

UPDATE #16 - Jul 13 2015
DO I LAUGH OR CRY?

I'll cry first. (Insert the crying emoticon) Now I'll laugh. (I tried to insert the laughing emoticon but failed-whoops!) Let me try that again. ( Second attempt also failed ) Hmmmm... I guess the laughter isn't going to happen right now.

I'll keep this short. Just received another blow. The details aren't even worth discussing. The  film wont be done until after the new year.

Not sure what else to say other than I'm sorry everyone. And of course I will update you at that time.

Until then, enjoy your summer…
Sincerely,
Amy Wade

UPDATE #17 - Nov 13 2015
I'M GETTIN PRETTY GOOD AT THE HURDLES

I should have done hurdles in track. Forget about the mile- it did nothing to prepare me for the hurdles I've faced since the beginning of CONDO HELL.

When does it end? I thought I reached the finish line?! Like, six months ago! I THINK I'M GOING INSANE!

Oh wait- I already am insane. I keep forgetting that!  DUH!

Here's the latest: CONDO HELL IS DONE!

APRIL FOOLS!
(I know, I know, it's November but I'm trying to be humorous for the millionth time.)
It's supposed to be done. The Fed-Ex guy handed me the package which contained the movie I've been obsessed with for 4 years. (Or is it five now? I've lost track.) I was actually holding it in my hands! I hugged the Fed-Ex guy and almost knocked him over. Then I was crying and jumping all over the place like I'd won the lottery. It was the most sensational feeling I've ever had in my life.
Then my boyfriend and I sat down to watch it. About 3 minutes into the movie I knew something was wrong. Very wrong. Remember that sensational feeling I just told you about? Well... let's find a word to describe the opposite of that. Then multiply it by 100.

If I had an explanation I'd share it. But I don't have one. I'm not kidding. I don't know what happened or why or how... I don't know if it can be fixed or if the movie is ruined. I will know by the middle of next week.

Please keep your fingers, toes, arms, legs, and eyeballs crossed for me. PLEASE.
Thank you everyone.
Sincerely,
Amy Wade

UPDATE #18 - Nov 28 2015
GUESS WHAT???!!!!

CONDO HELL IS FINISHED!
I wasn't sure if I was ever going to say that. There were too many times to count when I wanted to throw in the towel.

Kurt Phillips stuck it out too, and without him the movie wouldn't be complete, nor half as good. Thank you Kurt.

The next step is to start the festival circuit. I've already submitted to one- INTERNATIONAL HORROR AND SCI-FI FILM FESTIVAL.

There are many more to come, so keep your fingers crossed!

Regarding the gifts and DVD copies, etc. Please allow me time to organize and go through the lists. The DVD copies can't be given out until after the film festival circuit. But you will be the first ones to receive a copy. Cast photos still have to be taken- this will happen at our Los Angeles screening.
I'm going to try to have a screening on the East Coast. The rules are different for each festival so I have to make sure we won't be disqualified. If not, I'm hoping to find a venue that will screen it for no cost. Wishful thinking but it's worth a shot. Does anyone have a friend or relative that works at the Woburn Cinemas Movie Theatre? LOL

I'm going to work on this and get back to you.

THANK YOU AGAIN, AND AGAIN, AND AGAIN...
CONDO HELL IS COMING SOON TO A THEATRE NEAR YOU... (I always wanted to say that) LOL
Love,
Amy Wade

UPDATE #19 - Jan 24 2016
CONDO HELL @ THE STADIUM THEATRE IN WOONSOCKET RHODE ISLAND!!!!!!!

Dear Kickstarter friends,

THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE- I'M SOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED!

And nervous- what if it's horrible? UGH.

I wanted to have a showing for the residents at HIGH ROCKS CONDOMINIUMS, because they have been so patient and supportive all of these years and since the movie takes place in their home, (LOL) I thought they ought to see it before I fly to LA for the film festival. It's open to the public as well. (It's a really BIG theatre! LOL)

Wait- did I update you about the HOLLYWOOD REEL INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL? I don't think I did! OH MY GOD- I've been so insanely busy trying to get all of the stuff ready I dont think I told you about it yet!

I just recently found out that we were accepted into our first festival! I am ecstatic!

There are 11 more festival submissions I'm waiting to hear from... I WILL DEFINITELY UPDATE YOU- some of them won't be for many months ahead.

Back to the showing of CONDO HELL at The Stadium Theatre- It's next Sunday evening, 7pm (doors open at 6:15) $10 admission (to help pay for the rental fee, I wish I could afford it on my own I'm sorry about that- yuck)

I would love to see you there, but if not, you will be getting your reward gifts as soon as I can send them.

Thank you everyone. THE TIME HAS COME!
Love,
Amy Wade
